Talented teachers in Bradford will need to move quickly to secure their place on a free new pilot professional development programme known as Accelerate.

The fully-funded training scheme, designed to fast track the skills of early career teachers, is open to anyone in the first five years of teaching, currently working at a Bradford school graded 3 or 4 by Ofsted.

But places on Accelerate are limited and are being allocated on a first come, first served basis for anyone meeting the eligibility criteria.

Alison Peacock, Chief Executive at the Chartered College of Teaching said: “We know that early career teachers are most likely to describe their workload as being unmanageable. As a result, learning and development can often be the first to fall by the wayside, with the average teacher in England spending only four days on CPD per year.

“We want to ensure that teachers are provided with the tools and opportunity to develop their learning and to work in the most informed way. Through Accelerate we can deliver lasting results which will not only benefit early career teachers and their pupils but will spread throughout the workforce and benefit the whole profession.”

With a joint aim of improving pupil attainment and keeping emerging teaching talent within the profession, Accelerate is being led by the Education Development Trust in partnership with The Chartered College of Teaching.

The programme delivers evidence-based training, using a blended learning approach, designed to provide maximum flexibility and minimise time away from the classroom.

The training incorporates a residential training event, local workshops, expert instructional coaching, in-school mentoring and online training materials, tailored to different subject areas and phases.

The four-term training begins in the spring term 2019. Find out more and register at accelerate-teaching.co.uk
